Six households whose profession is remembering.
In Brikama, a handful of families carry the jali tradition: praise, genealogy, mediation and music held as an inherited office rather than a career choice.
Each household was photographed and interviewed in their own compound, with instruments they built or inherited.
The portraits are published with the families' conditions attached, including which lineage material may not be reproduced.
