Three generations of one family's history, recorded in a compound in Juffureh.
The recordings were made across four afternoons under the same mango tree the family has gathered beneath for as long as anyone can date. Nothing was scripted; the grandmother simply began where she always begins.
What emerges is less a memoir than a register — who arrived, who married whom, which season the well was dug, and the promise made to the village that received the family.
The children who can be heard in the background were kept in the recording at her request. A story without children around it, she said, is already half dead.
